Leone
Smith-Scott
Leone Smith-Scott is the founder of Scottlands Consulting and one of the region's most experienced investigators in sexual exploitation, abuse and harassment. A former New Zealand Police Detective with more than 20 years in serious sexual harm investigation, she has led complex cases for some of the world's most recognised organisations, including WHO, UNICEF, Mercy Corps and the Catholic Church's National Office of Professional Standards.
Leone specialises in SEAH, historic sexual abuse, and investigations involving vulnerable and disabled persons. She is a qualified PEACE interviewer and brings a survivor centred, trauma informed approach to every engagement, adapting quickly to the people, cultures and environments in front of her, whether in a city office or a remote village.
Her field experience spans New Zealand, the Pacific and Asia. She is equally effective leading investigations remotely or on the ground, and has a demonstrated ability to build trust with communities, institutions and survivors across diverse cultural contexts.
Simon Scott
Simon is a former New Zealand Police Detective Inspector with extensive senior leadership experience across policing, welfare, and international consulting. He served as a manager at the Ministry of Social Development and led global investigation operations for a international investigations consultancy, where he developed deep expertise in quality assurance, stakeholder management, and complex operational planning. At Scottlands, Simon brings rigour and structure to every investigation, supporting quality outcomes from planning through to final reporting. As a trusted advisor on investigation governance, he provides independent oversight across the team's active caseload.
Consultants
Scottlands also has a network of expert consultants that we call upon to assist us on investigations as needed. We take a ‘best for project’ approach to ensure the consultants we work with provide a great fit for both the project and the client.
